There is excitement to promote sustainability and waste prevention in the agricultural sector in Italy.
In October, the Italian Ministry of the Environment kicked off the first social campaign aimed at promoting “plastic free initiatives” with the hashtag #IOSONOAMBIENTE (#I’M ENVIRONMENT). The date chosen was the fourth of October, because - said Ministry Sergio Costa - "It is San Francesco day, the messenger of the protection of Creation, so it is an important day for Italy”. He invites everyone to give their own contribution by telling, through the hashtag, their commitment, big or small, to get rid of plastic.
Confagricoltura- Sepe has joined the initiative promoting the REIWASTE project, as a concrete action that the agricultural sector and, more in general, the agri-food chain, is doing to support companies in changing the paradigm required by the circular economy and plastic reduction. (Annex 1)
November was the month of Ecomondo, the international fair in Rimini dedicated to environmental issues, in which Confagricoltura - Sepe, also through with an institutional stand and the organization of numerous conferences, wanted to bring the voice of agriculture on the topics of the circular economy, bioeconomy, wastewater recovery, renewable energy. In this context, the participation in the event dedicated to REINWASTE, promoted together with Federalimentare, Aster and Ecomondo Scientific Technical Committee - was an opportunity to take stock of waste prevention strategies, especially not organic ones, as a starting point to implement the second phase of the project concerning the experimentation of innovative solutions to reduce non-organic waste, verifying the economic and environmental impact, on the dairy sector of Emilia Romagna. In December, attention to sustainability issues concerned the need to network companies. This is how the collaboration protocol was signed on December 14th with Confindustria, - the main organization of the industrial sector - for the promotion of good industrial and agricultural practices and for the development of sustainability as a growth factor.
